In Due Time
"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time." 1 Peter 5:6
If you have ever suffered from low self-esteem, you may think to yourself, "How could I possibly humble myself any more than I have already?" It is possible for you to exaggerate everything out of proportion as you attempt to make yourself and everything you do seem bigger and better, in order for you to feel comfortable within your surroundings.
Believe me, I am talking to you out of experience, so stay with me. Peter's phrase "in due time" is very interesting. In Greek it means "kyros," or "set or proper" time. In other words, if you are unwilling to humble yourself or go through this process, then God Himself will exalt you. God will do this; it is His promise to you. But remember this, it will happen at a preset time.
When you are too impatient to wait for the promise of God, you will begin to work things out within your own flesh. When that happens, you often create a whole new set of problems. So start your day by telling God you are willing and ready, but want Him to have His way with you—whenever He sees fit.
